Antonín’s Bakery: Prague, Czechia
When Denisa Strmisková Studio was commissioned to design Antonín’s Bakery’s newest location in Prague’s Vinohrady neighbourhood, the brief called for a space that honoured the building’s storied past whilst meeting the functional demands of a modern artisan bakery.
The site itself held significance—once home to Republika café, a beloved gathering place during the First Republic era, the building features restored wall paintings by artist Valentin Skála depicting the journey of coffee and spices from the Orient.
The flooring needed to balance the building’s historical character with the durability and demands of a modern hospitality venue; SIBEXTREME AG STYLE is the perfect fit for a project like this.
Our installation partner, OMEGA 99, delivered SIBEXTREME AG STYLE in a custom terrazzo design that complements the bakery’s palette of natural materials: wood, stainless steel, and plaster in soft tones.
The terrazzo’s polished surface reflects natural light from the building’s generous windows, enhancing the bright, welcoming atmosphere.
The project’s sensitive approach to historic preservation and contemporary functionality earned Denisa Strmisková Studio a nomination for Spatial Designer of the Year at the 2025 Czech Grand Design awards, with winners to be announced in March 2026.
